Nurse Aide Testing:

The Vocational Nursing Institute, Inc. DOES allow students outside of the school to test with our school or through our school. If you would like to test with our school, please call and make an appointment with our School Director. You can email the School Director at or call 832 237 2525 x103.

Fee to test with our school: $300.00 (check payable to The Vocational Nursing Institute, Inc., cash, cashier's check, credit card accepted)

We do not have control over the testing dates or times.

If you completed your course more than six months ago you must come in and demonstrate your skills to our instructor prior to your testing with NACES. We will give you 1 hour to demonstrate 5 skills to show us that you are ready for your skills testing. If you do not pass, then you will have to take our course in order to test with our school and pay the fee to take our course minus your $300.00 already paid. If you graduated more than one year ago from an approved program, you must take our nurse aide course in order to test with our school. No exceptions will be made to this policy.

Included in the $300.00 fee for testing with the VNI is:

  1. A 5 hour review course (1 day) 9:30 - 3:30 pm scheduled by the school
  2. One hour skills check off on the same day 3:30-4:30 pm as item #1
  3. Practice exam that you can take home (written handout)
  4. NACES Blue guide book on Nurse Aide Program and Testing (current version 2011)
  5. Instructor from 9:30 - 4:30 pm for the review course and to work with students who are getting ready to test with VNI who did NOT graduate from a VNI program but were accepted to test with our school by the School Director.

Note: The students will have to pay all fees associated with skills and/or written testing. This is NOT included in the $300 fee payable to The Vocational Nursing Institute, Inc. Our fee covers the review course, items 1-4 as above, instructor on site on testing day, materials for testing.

Items we need to add you to our testing pool:

  • Copy of your Social Security Card
  • Copy of your Driver's license
  • Copy of your Certificate from an approved school showing you completed the DADS Nurse Aide curriculum within the past 12 months
  • Copy of NACES letter stating you can test as applicable
